About the Role
About the Role
Reporting to the Powertrain Test Facility – Team Leader, as a proven professional you will be required to deliver powertrain testing within a state-of-the–art Powertrain Test Centre.
Requirements
Degree in Mechanical, Electronics Engineering or an equivalent education.
At least 5 years’ experience in an engineering test facility environment
Background in automotive and powertrain test and development environment.
Experience of working in a test facilities environment, engine, powertrain & vehicle test cells.
Experience of working with and knowledge of both mechanical and electrical automotive systems.
Knowledge of calibration of measurement equipment to UKAS standards.
Experience in engine performance, economy & emissions.
Knowledge of emissions measurement equipment: e.g. Horiba Mexa & AVL APC equipment.
Expert knowledge of instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition equipment.
Experience of health and safety process management.
Knowledge of AVL and Sierra CP test hardware and software including Sierra CP Cadet, AVL Puma, Concerto & Indicom, ETAS INCA
Experience of managing projects, planning, executing, and undertaking responsibility for project activities (preferred).
Experience working with automotive HV hybrid powertrains systems and components (desired).
Ability to work in a team environment with respect to timing.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to write and present high-quality reports to a varied audience.
Duties & Responsibilities
Day to day running of the test facility including repair and regular maintenance tasks
Calibration and maintenance of test equipment
Organising site maintenance tasks
Contracts and contractor organisation
Technical support of test requirements and testing
Project management of both facility development projects and testing projects
Development of road map for Powertrain Test Centre facility upgrade to support automotive business transformation. Including Powertrain, Vehicle dynamics, Electric drive systems and Intelligent software
Commissioning of new facilities & infrastructure within the Test Centre.
Support vehicle testing activities
Support sales company engineering activities
Preventative maintenance and calibration of test cell and associated equipment
Grow & develop skills and knowledge in the area of automotive testing methodology as needed based on new requirements, either testing methods or new technologies
Work with the Department Manager in the preparation of budgets associated with the test cells
Provide in house training to other staff in areas of expertise
Support CAUK cross-department capability initiatives if required

Primary location will be at Birmingham Business Park
