Changan Automobile has made steady progress in developing its core powertrain technologies to meet the evolving needs of modern motorists. Its innovation portfolio spans multiple key areas, including the Bluecore Powertrain, the iDD hybrid system, range extender technology, and hydrogen fuel cell systems.
Among these developments, the Bluecore Powertrain represents one of the most established and foundational achievements, serving as a key point of reference for Changan Automobile’s ongoing innovation in efficiency, performance, and sustainable mobility.
Changan Taihang Distributed Electric Drive System
The Changan Taihang Distributed Electric Drive system features an industry-first dual-motor rear-wheel-drive architecture. With millisecond-level precision control, it delivers full-domain stability and loss-of-control prevention, ensuring exceptional safety in all driving conditions. Key capabilities include maintaining stability at speeds up to 225 km/h even after a tyre blowout, preventing wheel slip in wet underground parking areas, and enabling confident starts on snowy slopes without rollback.
At the same time, the system offers powerful performance, delivering strong acceleration in around 2 seconds, stable cornering, and sustained, responsive power output. Already equipped on the new AVATR 12, the system will expand to six models by 2026, bringing top-tier chassis safety and driving confidence to a wider range of users.
The Taihang Distributed Electric Drive also stands out with its impressive core specifications, with several metrics leading the industry. With a compact volume of just 69 litres, it achieves a power density of 7.28 kW/L and a comprehensive operating efficiency of 92.8%. Compared to similar systems, it reduces volume by 71%, weight by 36%, and improves efficiency by 1.5%.

Intelligent variable thermal management enables stepless flow control across all temperature ranges, improving efficiency by 0.5% under normal conditions and by 3% in low temperatures.

Dynamic power electronics control allows intelligent, multi-dimensional regulation for rapid power response.

The BTB 3D high-integration motor controller features a six-core control chip capable of over 4 billion calculations per second, achieving peak efficiency of up to 99.88%.

The SOLA ultra-thin reducer is compact and lightweight, delivering 98.5% efficiency under CLTC conditions.
NEW BLUECORE POWER
As the foundational powertrain technology of Changan Automobile, New Bluecore Power drives continuous advancement in both the New Bluecore AI Electric Drive and the Super Range-Extended systems. The AI Electric Drive becomes more efficient the more it is used, while the Super Range-Extended system delivers consistently enhanced performance.

On the engine side, the New BlueCore engine introduces several advanced technologies designed to improve efficiency and performance. These include a next-generation high-pressure fuel injection system, an optimised combustion design, and a high-energy ignition system that ensures more complete and stable combustion.
Thanks to these innovations, the engine achieves a mass-production thermal efficiency of 44.28%, placing it among the leading engines globally in terms of fuel efficiency.
For plug-in hybrid applications, the dual-motor electric drive system enables seamless switching between hybrid and range-extended modes, with one-click locking. One hardware setup, two power modes—flexible and efficient.
In terms of the range extender, the system delivers a globally leading energy conversion rate, generating 3.63 kWh of electricity per liter of fuel.
New BlueCore Power also features the world’s first Intelligent Energy Management (IEM) system, offering adaptive all-terrain driving and navigation-based dynamic energy management—ensuring smooth, confident performance across a wide range of driving conditions.


BLUECORE HYBRID POWERTRAIN
Changan's Bluecore powertrains are a range of advanced engines and hybrid transmissions designed to provide optimal performance, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. These products feature a range of advanced technologies, such as direct injection, turbocharging, and variable valve timing, which help to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Additionally, Bluecore powertrains are designed to be lightweight and compact, which contributes to their impressive performance. Changan's Bluecore powertrains are available in a variety of sizes and configurations, making them suitable for a range of vehicle types, including sedans and SUVs.

In addition to the advanced engines and hybrid transmissions, Changan's Bluecore system also includes several innovative technologies such as the high-pressure hydraulic system, electronic dual-pump technology, S-winding winding technology, and three-clutch integrated technology. The system is capable of achieving an overall efficiency of 90% and a maximum torque of 590N·m, with a top speed of 200km/h and 0-100km/h acceleration in just 6 seconds. The iDD hybrid system, in particular, boasts a maximum transfer efficiency of 97%, making it one of the most efficient systems in the industry.
