About the Role
Changan is undergoing a major transformation to electrify the powertrains of our passenger car business. The UK R&D Centre is at the forefront of this work to develop the future generation of electrified, connected, and intelligent powertrains. We are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer – Power Electronics Systems Engineering to join us.
Requirements
Strong numeracy and literacy
Five to ten years experience is required and preferably some of this will be in automotive
Good logical reasoning
Deep experience of Power Electronics ideally including Automotive Inverters
Knowledge of power electronic devices and how they are integrated into the HV electrical system
Experience of developing hardware to meet IEC 61508 (or domain specific variant, e.g. ISO 26262)
Experience of specification, development and test of power electronic device such as inverters
Experience of working with teams of engineers designing and testing power electronics
Evidence of achieving results through effective work against objectives
Good communication skills
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the capture of requirements and support the development of power electronics hardware and software traction drive and power conversion systems
Lead/support the testing of power electronics hardware and software
Capturing and analysing requirements from different stakeholders
Disseminate requirements to appropriate teams for action
Support the development of electrical and electronics architecture for e-drive applications including HV harness and connectors schematics
Prepare/develop test plans and methods
Provide expertise for investigations and problem-solving activities
Lead the System DFMEA and support functional safety analysis
Ensure compliance with relevant EMC/EMI standards
Managing the technical delivery of suppliers
Other Features
Role based in UK with core CAUK team
Occasional travel to other CA sites including China on development trips and to visit suppliers is a requirement
