Transmission Department Vacancies

Changan UK R&D Centre - based in Nottingham is currently recruiting for a Transmissions Design Engineer (Advanced drivetrain). This is an exciting career opportunity within a growing, large international car manufacturer.

Core Requirement

• Minimum 5 years varied experience within a powertrain design environment, preferably transmissions.

• Knowledge of powertrain design criteria and specifications.

• Knowledge of powertrain component and subsystem design.

• Knowledge of advanced powertrain current technology and industry trends.

• Knowledge of driveline electrification and hybridisation layouts and components.

• Familiarity with control and electrical architecture of advanced drivetrains.

• Familiarity with vehicle PFE targets and legislation.

• Ability to analytically study and compare alternative drivetrains.

• Proficient knowledge of one or more 3D CAD design tools, especially Pro-Engineer.

• Ability to interpret and produce 2D detail drawings.

• Ability to specify components using design parameters or design tools (calculation).

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools.

• Ability to manage personal workscope to deliver tasks on time.

Main Tasks

• Creation and use of simulation models of advanced drivetrains eg. AVL Cruise.

• Knowledge of Automatic / IVT /4WD transmission systems.

• Knowledge of transmission integration into vehicles.

• Familiarity with Dual clutch transmission theory and layout.

• Knowledge of transmission materials, manufacturing & assembly  methods.

• Transmission DFMEA implementation.

• Ability to liaise with and manage suppliers.

• Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
