Job Purpose

Reporting to the Powertrain Test - Team Leader, as a proven professional you will be required to perform strip, re-build and new builds of measured prototype engines  in support of test programs

Personal Specification

  • An apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in early prototype / research engine assembly & dis-assembly including measurements  of components and assemblies and documentation of builds
  • Experience of assembly & dis-assembly of transmissions and other powertrain components would be an advantage
  • Experience of fitting & removing instrumentation would be an advantage
  • Experience of fabricating and operating rigs & fixtures would be an advantage
  • Experience of operating engine test cells would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of current motor vehicle technology
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office
  • Strong hands-on ability with can do attitude
  • Good communication and persuasion skills at all levels

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assembly and/or strip of Engines including component measurement and preparation where needed
  • Instrumentation fitment onto engines & components
  • Documentation of engine measurements during assembly
  • Installation of engines onto test pallets
  • Installation and removal of Powertrain systems & components from vehicles and/or test cells
  • Working as part of a small team covering for holiday/absence of others if appropriately skilled
