Description :

Job Purpose

  • Lead CAUK Electrical Engineering team to deliver electrified powertrain projects
  • Lead CAUK Electrical Engineering team to support Changan with on-going projects and/or issues
  • Support the development of New Energy Vehicle (NEV) powertrain architecture, and recommend to Changan Senior Management
  • Develop control and software technology roadmap for Changan next generation powertrains
  • Take a leading role in Changan Electrified Driveline Development

Person Specification

The Experience & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years relevant working experience
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Automotive, Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Has hold senior managerial positions in engineering organisations
  • Has proven experience of leading team to deliver major engineering programs
  • Has proven experience of defining and influencing business technology strategy
  • Has an proven Electronic Controller & Electric Drive Systems (EDS) Technical leadership background, technical strategy / roadmap development and delivery experience considering areas such as :
    • Technical expertise of Electronic Hardware Controllers, ideally multi-function
    • Industry expertise in Electronic controller strategic development
    • Expertise in micro-controller development trends, product selection and engineering development
    • Strong technical expertise in embedded software development analysis, design development and test
    • Experience of AutoSar software development in an Autospice & ISO26262 environment
    • Knowledge of electrical machine topologies and their drive control in x-EV applications
    • A detailed understanding of Electronic controller, electrical machine, power electronics attributes
    • Knowledge of electrical machine/ power electronics thermal management approaches
    • Knowledge of Battery technology and management systems
    • Familiar with vehicle Communication protocol: CAN CAN FD CAN XL

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven track record of robustly delivering in a dynamic environment within demanding deadlines
  • A good understanding of system engineering processes
  • Evidence of achieving results through effective self-motivation and prioritisation
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills, including the ability to write clear documentation
  • Excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a cross functional team
  • Ideally, working experience in multi-cultural environments

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead Powertrain software department supporting CAUK and HQ projects
  • Lead Powertrain Control Activities in CAUK; hardware, BSW & ASW and development processes
  • Lead Electronic Architecture strategy and Roadmap development
  • Lead and generate E-Machine, inverter/power electronics Technology roadmaps
  • Lead inverter, power electronics simulation & functional testing in UK
  • Support Powertrain Control System development for future Changan Vehicles
  • Support Powertrain performance simulation at both powertrain and vehicle level
  • Support Powertrain Hardware, Software and Control Integration

  • Role based in UK with core CAUK team
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK
  • Regular visits to China are expected (3 or 4 times a year typically)
