Job Purpose

Use of simulation tools to support the design and analysis of new Hybrid Transmissions.

Personal Specification

  • Degree qualified (Control/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automotive/Electrical).
  • Maintaining and developing strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experience of deriving governing from first principles.
  • Proficient user of simulation software, with experience in one or two of the following: Romax, Hyperworks, Abaqus, MotorCAD, Matlab/Simulink, Adams, GT Suite, Carmaker.
  • Preferable: Experience of modelling & simulating automotive powertrain systems with respect to system performance, dynamics & control and/or fuel economy simulations.
  • Preferable: Experience of electromagnetic modelling & simulation of electric motors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the technical assessment of current and future hybrid powertrain technologies.
  • Develop and execute models of geartrain, hydraulic and eMotor systems to develop and improve powertrain concepts.
  • Optimisation of housings, gear geometry and shaft systems for Strength, Durability and NVH using tools such as Hyperworks, Optistruct and Romax.
  • Support methods to generate dutycycles through simulation in Carmaker.
  • Analyse and correlate simulation data from test measurements.
